What is Red Bull Reporter?
Red Bull Reporter is a nationwide search to find the best young music, culture, and sports journalists/filmmakers/photographers and presenters and give them a chance of a lifetime – to use their skills and indulge their passions as a Red Bull Reporter.
Do I have to be a Reporter to use the site?
No, if you don’t want to be a reporter you can view all the reports and check out what the reporters have been up to. You can also rate and comment on reports even if you are not a Reporter but to do this you must register on the site.
Do I need to register?
You must register to upload content, rate and comment on the site. An initial quick registration will allow you to join our newsletter, rate and comment on the site. Ratings will be available when the Submissions section launches). However, if you’d like to upload content to the Submissions section of the site for the chance to be selected to become a reporter, you just need to add a couple of extra details, which you can do at any time from your profile page.
How do I become a Red Bull Reporter?
You must upload your best work by going to the Become a Reporter page and responding to one or as many briefs as you like. The Red Bull editorial team will then be reviewing the content uploaded to the Submissions section on this site and based on the criteria below will select users who they think should be selected for the ‘pool of reporters’.
What is the Red Bull Reporter Pool?
The reporter pool is made up of all users we give ‘reporter’ status because we think they have the skills to go out on one of our assignments. Users can be added to the pool at any time, and all reporters are sent assignment details each month, with information about how to let us know they’re available and would like to go on a particular assignment.
How can I increase my chances of being selected for the Red Bull Reporter Pool?
- To be selected for the reporter pool you must first upload your content onto the submissions page by responding to one or more of the briefs.
- Spread the word: use the share links and get your mates to rate and comment on your work. If the editorial team think your content is exciting, it is rated highly by other users and has been commented on positively you will be placed in the Reporter Pool.

You will be informed by email if you have been selected for the Reporter Pool and receive the monthly newsletter about the upcoming assignments.
If I’m selected for the reporter pool will I definitely go on an assignment?
No, unfortunately there will not be enough assignments for everyone to be selected for one, follow the tips of how to increase your chances of being selected to make sure you get picked. All those in the Reporter Pool will receive a case of Red Bull.

How are reporters selected for each assignment?
- First, you must be in the Reporter Pool to be considered for an assignment.
- We will send out a monthly email to all reporters with details of the assignments that month, including what we are looking for (eg. photographers, writers, presenters or filmmakers) and when and where the events are.
- When you receive this email, you will need to respond to it and let us know if you’re interested in an assignment that suits your skills and that you are available for it.
- Once we know who is available for an assignment, we’ll select the reporters and let them know. The Red Bull Editorial Team will take into account how regularly you’ve posted content to the Submissions section and how many ratings and comments your content has received, though we will try to give as many reporters as possible the opportunity to report.
What happens if I get selected for an assignment?
You will be informed by an email from the Red Bull editorial team which will explain the next steps.
What happens to the story/content I create on assignment?
Your content will be uploaded onto the website. If your content is really great there may be the chance that your Report is published.
Will I get paid?
You will not get paid, however, all your expenses e.g. travel, and accommodation etc. will be paid for by Red Bull.

Yes, all your expenses including travel, accommodation (if necessary) will be paid for.
Can I bring a friend?
Some of the assignments will invite you to bring a friend – keep a look out on the assignments page which will be updated regularly for this opportunity.
Do I need my own equipment, camera, video camera etc.
We want you to use the equipment you’re most comfortable with, so in most cases you’ll be using your own equipment. However, in some cases, we may be able to lend you something, if you don’t have it. It’s all about the talent, not what you own!
How do I show I am interested in a particular assignment once in the reporter pool?
- If you really want to work on a particular assignment you can flag assignments you’re interested in by ticking the appropriate boxes at the bottom of the profile page after logging in.
- Of course the more high-quality and appropriate your submissions are, the higher the chance you’ll be selected.
- Submit your content as many times as you want.

I have a friend who would be a great Reporter – how do I introduce them to Red Bull Reporter?
Make sure they visit the site, register and upload their great content. You can then increase their chances of being selected by the editorial team by rating and commenting on their work.
Will I get feedback on my submission?
- The Red Bull Editorial Team will not be able to give feedback on every submission – however if you are chosen to go on assignment, you will get feedback on your story, photos, video, etc.
- Users will be able to view and rate/comment your content – see the Submissions & Reports sections when they launch to see what they think!
What does the Red Bull logo that appears on some assignments mean?
This means it’s a super special one!
Do I have to be over a certain age?
You must be at least 16 years old to participate in Red Bull Reporter. In some cases, for some assignments that involve travel, you will have to be over 18. However, there are lots of assignments for all ages!
